We were able to get away this past weekend for a mini family vacation. Dave's work schedule allowed him to be home over a weekend so we took advantage of it and planned a family get away. We kept it a secret from the boys until we were in the car. They thought we were going to take them to school but as we backed out of the driveway and headed in the opposite direction they knew right away something was up. We didn't want to tell them much and keep surprising them as time went on but Ethan got pretty upset about not going to school. that boys LOVES school, so we started to share just a little bit what we were going to do. After a bit they were ok and we had kept most of it still a secret. They settled in to watch a movie and off we headed to Omaha. First stop was the Zoo. We spent quite a few hours there and didn't even begin to see it all. They each got to pick a stuffed animal to bring home as a memory; Ethan got a gorilla, Micah got a penguin, and Levi got a panda bear. The boys thought that was it and we were going to be going back home. We drove to the hotel and Dave said it was such a ways back home that we should maybe see if we could get a room at this hotel. After getting our rooms we headed to the water park connected to the hotel. All three boys were so excited. We just finished swimming lessons last week and all were excited about getting to go swimming more. We woke up Saturday and spent the morning swimming again and then we headed to the Children's Museum for the afternoon. Dinner out was at the Cheesecake Factory! That was a Dad and Mom restaurant as there was a wait but the boys were troopers for us. They have decided though that they don't like fancy restaurants. =) We spent more time at the pool and arcade Sunday morning before checking out, eating lunch and heading for home. It was a wonderful weekend and it was great to get away and just be the 5 of us.
