Spring planting

Last weekend brought a nice dry day so off to the garden we went. We decided this year to get a garden plot in the community garden and grow ourselves a little bit of fresh goodness. Each boy picked something they wanted in the garden and we were able to get the seeds in. We are going to be putting more in but now need it to dry out a bit after our week of rain. So far we have onions, beans, peas, carrots and potatoes. We are planning on tomatoes, peppers and zucchini yet. The boys are excited about it and hopefully enjoy the summer of weeding, watering and harvesting!

Spring activities

The weather has warmed up and we are out enjoying the spring weather. Both Ethan and Micah are involved with soccer. It keeps us busy four nights a week with practice and then Saturday mornings with games. We've had one cold windy game day and one warmer not so windy game day. We took a family adventure one afternoon and stopped at a ball park for a little baseball practice. Ethan will be starting that soon. Dave has also been able to get out the kayak and take a trip down the Des Moines river. We love our outdoor adventures!

Pine wood derby

On Wednesday night we had the BIG race at Word of Life at church....Pine Box Derby! The boys have been working with Dad and building cars to race. They weren't able to place and get a trophy but they had fun and already have ideas as to what to do different for next year. It was a fun evening.

Spring break family trip to Minnesota

The boys had Spring break from school last week so we planned a family vacation and headed for Minnesota. We stayed at the Water Park of America and filled our days with family fun. No pictures from the water park because I didn't want to get the phone wet but we took pictures from our other adventures. It was a great long weekend and we all had a fun time.

 Easter lunch at the Rainforest Café. Such a fun restaurant. The boys really liked the animals around us and the thunder and lightening storm that would come every once in awhile.

4 year old!

Our "baby" is 4! Where oh where does the time go? He had a great birthday. We started with birthday pancakes, Daddy made a Yoda cake and he picked to eat at A & W for his dinner out. What a big boy we have and he brings the bounce to our lives. Love you to pieces, Levi!

 

Family adventure

The weather was beautiful last weekend and we took full advantage of it. Out for a family hiking adventure! Give boys a few sticks, rocks and water and they are well entertained. We found some cool ice formations and a neat hollow log. We have been enjoying the warmer spring weather and getting our lungs cleaned out of stale winter air.

9 years old!

And Ethan turns 9! It is so hard to believe that our firstborn son is 9 already. He is such a blessing to us and we love him very much. We started out his birthday with birthday pancake. He chose A&W for birthday dinner out and then home for Darth Vador cake, ice cream and presents. He will tell you he had a pretty wonderful birthday.
